## Story

Luna's wings glowed silver in the moonlight. She floated through the quiet house, past quilts that smelled like sunshine and photographs of smiling faces. Every night, she helped children dream sweet dreams. Every night, she worked by herself.

"That is how I like it," Luna whispered.

But her heart felt heavy, like a stone.

One evening, Luna heard a tiny sneeze. A dust sprite sat on grandmother's photograph, no bigger than a buttercup.

"Hello! I am Pip," he said. "The Moon sent me to learn about bedtime magic. Could you teach me?"

Luna's stomach flipped. She remembered another sprite, one who had broken her favorite star-catcher and never said sorry.

"No."

The word came out hard. Luna flew away fast, leaving Pip by the picture frame.

The next night, Luna reached for her special dream-dust. The jar was empty. She looked under the cinnamon-scented quilts. She checked behind the rose-painted teapot. Nothing. Then she saw Pip in the garden, holding something shiny. Her jar. Luna's face grew hot. Her wings buzzed loud.

"You have my dust," she called.

Pip jumped.

"No, wait."

"I do not want help," Luna said, her hands shaking. "Please go."

She closed the window. Through the glass, Pip looked small and quiet. The angry stone in Luna's chest grew bigger.

Three nights passed. Luna worked by herself. But something felt wrong. The children could not sleep well. They tossed and turned. Luna's dust was not enough by itself. Through the window, she watched Pip working in the far corner of the garden. He moved slowly, sprinkling dust on sleeping flowers. His shoulders drooped. The stone in Luna's chest felt heavy and cold.

On the fourth night, Luna flew outside. She waited behind the flowers, watching. Pip's jar sat on a rock, with stars painted on it. Next to it was another jar with moons. Her jar. Luna gasped. She floated down, quiet as a feather.

"You found it?"

Pip looked up.

"It rolled behind the bookshelf. I saw it slip, so I got it for you. Then I filled it with fresh dust. I wanted to surprise you."

Something cracked inside Luna. The angry stone broke into pieces.

"I did not listen," Luna said, her voice small. "I was worried you would hurt me like before. But I never gave you a chance."

"It is okay to feel worried," Pip said softly.

Luna felt lighter already.

"I held my anger so tight. It hurt us both."

Pip smiled like sunrise.

"Could we try being friends?"

Luna reached out her hand.

"Yes. Please."

That night, they worked together. Luna showed Pip her swirling dance. Pip taught her a gentle humming song. Their dust sparkled brighter than ever. The children sighed peacefully. The house felt warmer.

Now every evening, Luna waits by the window with a smile. She and Pip meet when the stars come out. They fly through the cozy house together, past the quilts and photographs and wonderful smells. Luna's heart feels light now, and bedtime magic feels warmer when shared.
