## Story

## Caught in the Storm

The wind howled, and rain pounded against the leaves as a group of animals hurried along a muddy forest path. Bear held a branch aside for Rabbit. Dog shook water from his ears. Cat kept looking for a dry place to stop.

Thunder rolled across the sky, and the friends ran for shelter.

Mouse spotted an old castle on a hill in the distance. Its towers leaned a little, and ivy covered the stone walls, but the open gate looked much better than the stormy path.

They scurried inside and pushed the heavy door closed behind them.

## Friendly Castle Guides

The animals had never seen anything like it before. Pale figures floated gently above the floor, each one glowing like moonlight.

Rabbit backed into Bear. Dog gave a tiny whine.

"Please do not worry," said one ghost. "We only guard the riddles of this castle."

The ghosts told them about the knights who had once lived there, protected travelers, and left puzzles for anyone who needed shelter on a wild night.

The animals listened closely. If they wanted to leave before supper, they would need to solve the castle's riddles.

## Solving Riddles

The animals felt unsure as they entered the first room of the castle. The door behind them creaked closed, and they realized the way forward would take some patience. One of the ghosts appeared before them, smiling.

"Welcome to our puzzle hall," said the ghost. "I hope you do not mind a little challenge or two."

"Challenge?" asked one of the animals nervously.

"Yes!" the ghost replied. "We love riddles here, and we have left quite a few for visitors who need shelter."

The animals looked at each other warily, then nodded.

"All right," said Rabbit. "We will give it a try."

They began their walk through the castle's chambers. Each room held a new puzzle: a rhyming clue over a fireplace, a pattern of shields on a wall, and a row of bells that had to be rung in the right order.

With each riddle solved, they moved closer to finding their way out, guided by friendly spirits who watched over them with great interest.

As the rooms grew trickier, the friends began to listen more carefully. Cat noticed small details. Mouse remembered patterns. Bear moved heavy things. Dog kept everyone calm.

At last, they reached a passage that smelled of rain and leaves.

## The Heavy Door

The friends reached the center of the old castle. They knew the fresh air was close, but a large wooden door blocked the next hall.

One by one, each animal tried to push it open with all their might. The door did not move.

"I have an idea," said Mouse, who had been quiet until now. "Why do we not try pushing at the same time?"

"That is a good idea," said Bear.

So they all gathered around the door and pushed together. The door creaked open, inch by inch.

As they continued through the castle, more obstacles stood in their way: stones blocking paths, missing steps, and a narrow ledge over a storage cellar.

The birds carried messages from one side to the other. Bear moved stones. Rabbit tested each step before the others crossed.

Each friend had a part to play.

After that, the group knew that tough challenges were easier when everyone helped. Teamwork had carried them through the riddles, and it would carry them through whatever came next.

## A Way Out and a Friendly Reminder

The animals found a hidden passage behind a torn tapestry. It was dim inside, but Mouse spotted small marks carved into the floor, and Cat followed the draft of fresh air.

When they came out at the foot of the hill, the storm had passed. Sunlight shone on the castle towers.

As they walked away from the castle walls, Rabbit noticed a message carved into a nearby tree trunk. It said, "If you need shelter in bad weather, remember this place."

The friends smiled. The old castle was not only a place of riddles. It was a shelter for anyone who needed help.

They went home damp, tired, and proud of the riddles they had solved together.
