## Story

## The Secret Passageway

Jack and Jill lived in a grand castle with their parents, the king and queen. Around the castle were green forests, clear streams, and more rooms than the children could count.

One sunny day, while playing hide-and-seek with their friends, Jack and Jill found a bookshelf that jutted out from the wall.

They pushed it gently at first. Nothing happened. Then they pushed together, and the shelf swung open to reveal a secret passage.

Jack and Jill tiptoed down the dim passage until they reached an old wooden door.

They steadied themselves and slowly twisted the doorknob. The door creaked open, revealing a room that glittered from floor to ceiling.

## The Dragon Guardian

Jack and Jill's eyes widened as they stepped into the room. They had never seen so much treasure in one place! The room was filled with glittering jewels and gold coins that shimmered in the dim light.

A loud roar echoed through the chamber, and Jack and Jill jumped. Then a small green dragon stepped from behind a pile of coins and waved them closer.

"Hello there," said the dragon with a grin. "I have been waiting for some new friends to come visit me."

Jack and Jill stayed near the door at first, but Droggy's grin helped them relax.

"What is your name?" asked Jack curiously.

"I am called Droggy," the dragon replied, proudly puffing out his chest.

Droggy showed them around his treasure hoard, pointing out all of his favorite shiny objects. Then, he proposed playing a game of "Dragon Says".

"You know how it works," said Droggy, flapping his wings. "You do what I say, but only if I start with 'Dragon says'!"

The trio played until Droggy yawned and curled up beside a pile of gold coins.

With their newfound friend snoozing soundly nearby, Jack and Jill decided it was time to head back home before anyone noticed they were gone for too long.

As they crept quietly along the dim passageway back toward their bedroom, they could not stop giggling about the treasure-room friend they had made.

## Playing Games with the Dragon

Jack and Jill had felt unsure when they first saw the dragon. Once Droggy spoke kindly, they realized he was not trying to startle anyone.

The three of them played "Dragon Says" together. Droggy called out, "Dragon says touch your nose!" and "Dragon says hop on one foot!" Jack and Jill giggled as they played along.

After a while, the dragon started to yawn. He was getting tired from playing so much! Jack and Jill noticed this and suggested that maybe it was time for him to rest.

The dragon agreed, but only if Jack and Jill promised to come back soon for another game of Dragon Says. They agreed, happy to have made a new friend in the most unexpected room of the castle.

As they tiptoed away from the sleeping dragon and back through the secret passageway into their bedroom, Jack could not stop laughing about how silly it was that a friendly dragon guarded their castle's treasure room.

Jill said she had never imagined such an adventure could happen right at home. The treasure room had seemed strange at first, but it had given them a friend.

They spent half the night whispering about Droggy and wondering what game he would choose next.

## A Magical Surprise

The next morning, Jack and Jill woke up feeling excited about their adventure from the previous day. They were surprised to find a shiny gold coin under each of their pillows!

"Wow, this is amazing!" said Jill.

"I know," said Jack, grinning ear to ear. "It is like magic."

From that moment on, every time a baby tooth came out and they placed it under their pillow at night, another shiny gold coin waited there by morning.

"This is so cool! The dragon must have left these coins as a thank you gift for playing with him," said Jill.

Jack nodded in agreement. "I think he enjoyed our company."

The two siblings decided to tell their parents about the treasure room carefully. A friendly dragon was still a dragon, and secret passages were safer when grown-ups knew where they led.

As days went by, Jack and Jill visited Droggy whenever they had free time and permission. Every visit brought something new: a silver button under a loose stone, a painted map behind a curtain, or a dragon who wanted one more game before supper.

Thinking back on all of their adventures together made them smile.
