## Story

## Four Friends Go on an Adventure

There were four knight friends named Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad, Sir Percival, and Sir Cedric. They loved to explore new places together. One day, while they were riding through the woods near their kingdom, they spotted something between the trees.

It was a huge castle with turrets that reached into the sky. They had never seen anything like it before. They rode closer until they stood beneath its towering gates.

The castle looked old and abandoned, but it was still grand. The four friends knew this would be their next adventure.

## Exploring the Abandoned Castle

As soon as the gate creaked open, the knights stepped inside cautiously. The castle walls towered above them, making even their horses seem small.

They walked down a long hallway filled with portraits of kings from long ago until they reached an enormous room with tables and chairs waiting for guests.

"Look at this hall," said Sir Cedric. "I bet those kings held grand feasts here."

Sir Percival smiled. "Maybe we will find a hidden treasure too."

Sir Galahad pointed to another door leading farther into the castle. The friends set off again, eager to see what they might discover.

## The Disappearance of Sir Cedric

The knights explored until the hallways split in three directions. Sir Cedric stepped ahead to check a side passage.

Then a cold laugh echoed from farther inside the castle. When the others turned, Sir Cedric was gone. The three remaining knights checked the hallway, the doorway, and the dim corners nearby.

They heard the laugh again, closer this time. A torn strip of Cedric's blue cloak lay near the next doorway.

The knights rushed over to investigate. From farther down the corridor, another cackle rang out.

"That sounds as if it is coming from inside the abandoned castle," said Sir Galahad.

The knights marched toward the sound with lanterns raised. As soon as they entered the dim corridor, the castle grew colder.

The air felt cold and damp while strange whispers echoed through every room. The friends pressed on until they found another clue: fresh footprints in the dust.

## The Haunted Castle

The three knights moved farther into the abandoned castle. It was so dim they could barely see each other. They lit their torches and stepped carefully. A cold breeze brushed past them.

As they walked farther into the castle's corridors, the air grew colder and mistier with every step they took. Then they heard faint whispers coming from within the castle walls.

"Did someone say something?" asked Sir Galahad nervously.

The other knights shook their heads. No one had said anything at all. They did not want to make one another more uneasy in this strange place.

Sir Percival noticed a painting on the wall that seemed to be moving by itself. He rubbed his eyes to make sure he was seeing clearly, but the painting still moved.

"Look over there," said Sir Percival, pointing to the painting.

They all looked where Sir Percival pointed but saw nothing unusual. When they turned back around, an old suit of armor started shaking by itself, making them step back quickly.

"Steady," said Sir Lancelot. "Cedric may be close."

Before any of them could take another step, cackling laughter echoed through the halls.

## Discovering the Secret Door

The three knights marched down the castle's dim corridors, their footsteps echoing through the empty halls. Sir Lancelot stopped and pointed to a group of tattered tapestries hanging on the wall.

"Look there!" he said. "Do you see what I see?"

The other knights peered closely at the tapestries and saw that there was indeed something peculiar about them. They were frayed and worn in some spots, suggesting that they may have been covering something up for quite some time.

They pulled back the tapestries to reveal an old wooden door hidden behind them. It looked as though it had not been opened in years.

"What could be behind there?" wondered one knight aloud.

"Only one way to find out," said another with a grin.

They steadied themselves, pushed open the door, and stepped forward into the underground room.

## The Underground Dungeon

As soon as they stepped through the secret door, their eyes had to adjust from daylight to the dim underground room. Gradually, torches flickered into life, revealing an old dungeon.

The damp stone walls made even the knights shiver. Still, they continued their mission to rescue Sir Cedric.

They carefully checked each cell until they found Sir Cedric locked behind an iron door. Two small goblin guards stood nearby, more nervous than fierce.

Sir Galahad raised his shield. Sir Percival held up a lantern. Sir Lancelot spoke calmly.

"We only want our friend," he said. "Let him go, and no one needs to be hurt."

The guards looked at one another. They had only been guarding the door because the sorcerer had startled them too. One handed over the key with shaking fingers.

Sir Cedric stepped out, tired but smiling. The walk back through the dungeon felt brighter with all four knights together again.

## The Sorcerer's Last Trick

The knights stood together when the sorcerer appeared at the dungeon stairs. His cloak snapped in the cold air, and his voice echoed against the stone.

"You found the secret door," he said. "But you will not find your way out."

He waved his hand, and the corridor filled with swirling smoke.

Sir Cedric remembered the pattern of the stones underfoot. Sir Galahad held the lantern high. Sir Percival called out each turn, and Sir Lancelot kept everyone moving together.

The sorcerer tried to confuse them with echoes and smoke, but the knights followed their clues.

When they reached the great hall, sunlight poured through the windows. The sorcerer's smoke vanished.

"This castle is not yours to frighten," said Sir Cedric.

The sorcerer shrank back from the sunlight and disappeared through a crack in the wall, leaving the castle quiet at last.

## The Knights Return

The four knights had rescued Sir Cedric and found their way out of the underground dungeon. They emerged into the courtyard, their armor shining in the sunlight.

"I am glad you followed the clues," said Sir Cedric.

Sir Cedric looked relieved to be free from his captivity. "Thank you so much for rescuing me," he said to his friends.

The knights smiled at each other, grateful to be together again.

## Bravery at the Castle

As they walked back toward their kingdom, Sir Percival looked over his shoulder at the old castle.

"It seemed less worrying once we worked together," he said.

"That is right," said Sir Cedric with a nod. "You listened, stayed calm, and did not give up."

After that night, they knew difficult moments felt smaller when they stood by each other and stayed brave together.
