## Story

## Princess Mira and the Secret Library

Princess Mira loved muddy boots, leafy shade, and windy afternoons in the castle garden. She could follow a butterfly across three courtyards without losing sight of it.

Lessons were harder. Numbers wandered on the page. Dates slipped from her memory. Long paragraphs made her think about clouds.

"I want to learn," Mira told Librarian Sol. "My thoughts wander when I sit still."

"Then we will start with a different kind of map," said Sol.

He led her, with her tutor beside them, to a small round room behind the public library. Its shelves curved like a shell. The books glowed softly, not because they were wild, but because they were eager to be opened.

## The Enchanted World of Numbers

The first book was called Picnic Numbers. When Mira opened it, the page became a picture of a picnic blanket.

"Four friends," said Sol. "Eight strawberries. What is fair?"

Mira moved painted strawberries into four groups.

"Two each," she said.

The page shimmered and showed slices of cake.

"Now four slices and two friends?"

"Two each again."

For the first time, division looked like sharing snacks.

Mira wrote in her notebook: Numbers can answer fair questions.

## The Amazing World of Science

The next book smelled faintly of rain. It was called Seeds and Sunlight.

On the page, a seed opened one tiny root. Mira watched leaves unfold toward a paper sun.

"Plants use sunlight to make food," said her tutor. "What else do they need?"

Mira added painted drops of water. The plant stood taller.

A paper bee buzzed across the page.

"And some plants need pollinators," Mira said, remembering the garden bees.

She looked out the library window at the real garden and noticed the bees moving from flower to flower.

## Exploring More Magical Books

Mira returned to the hidden reading room all week.

The map book let her trace rivers with a silver string.

The history book showed one castle feast from three points of view: the cook, the queen, and the stable boy.

The animal book asked her to match tracks to paws, hooves, and claws.

At the bottom shelf, Mira found a book with a brass clasp.

"May I open this one?" she asked.

Sol checked the label. "Advanced spells. Not today. Asking was the right choice."

Mira chose a book about bridges instead. It turned out to be excellent.

## The Exciting Return Home

After a month, Mira's tutor asked her to explain fractions to a younger cousin.

"Easy," Mira said, then stopped. "Easier with strawberries."

She drew eight strawberries and four plates. Her cousin understood at once.

That afternoon, Mira still ran outside after lessons. She still followed butterflies. But now she carried a notebook in her pocket.

Under one butterfly sketch, she wrote:

Learning is exploring with better questions.
