## Story

## Princess Elephant's Golden Acorn

In a bright castle at the edge of a friendly forest lived Princess Elephant. She was gentle, thoughtful, and careful with the things that mattered to her.

Her most precious treasure was a golden acorn. It had belonged to her grandmother, and her grandmother's grandmother before that. Princess Elephant kept it on a little pedestal by the window, where it caught the morning light.

"It shines like family stories," she often said.

One afternoon, Princess Elephant came to dust the pedestal. The sunlight was there. The velvet cushion was there.

But the golden acorn was gone.

"Oh no," she whispered. "Where did you go?"

## The Disappearance of the Golden Acorn

Princess Elephant searched the room first. She looked under the rug, behind the curtains, beside the bookshelf, and inside the flower vase.

"It could have rolled," she told herself, trying to stay calm.

She checked the hallway. She checked the stairs. She even checked beneath the sleepy castle cat, who opened one eye and flicked his tail.

Still, there was no acorn.

Princess Elephant sat on the floor. Her eyes felt hot with tears.

"I do not have to solve this by myself," she said at last. "My friends can help me think."

## Seeking Help from Friends

Princess Elephant hurried to the forest gate, where Rabbit, Squirrel, and Owl were playing leapfrog in the grass.

"I need help," Princess Elephant said. "My golden acorn is missing."

Rabbit's ears stood straight up. "We will search quickly."

Squirrel held up a paw. "And carefully."

Owl blinked wisely. "First, tell us where you saw it last."

Princess Elephant paused and explained everything: the window, the pedestal, the empty cushion, and all the places she had checked.

"Then we start at the pedestal," Owl said. "Missing things often leave clues."

Princess Elephant felt a little steadier as they walked back to the castle together.

## Searching High and Low

At the pedestal, Rabbit found a tiny trail in the dust.

"Something rolled this way," Rabbit said.

The trail led to the hallway, then disappeared near a stack of boxes.

Squirrel hopped onto the boxes and peeked behind them. "No acorn, but I found an old chest."

Inside the chest were ribbons, buttons, and a silver spoon, but no golden acorn.

Princess Elephant's shoulders drooped.

"We found one clue," Owl reminded her. "That means we can find another."

Just then, Rabbit saw a tiny glint behind a dusty vase.

"Look here!" he called.

It was only a brass button, but beside it was a single almond.

## The Search Continues

The almond gave Squirrel an idea.

"Maybe someone thought the acorn was a nut and carried it toward the kitchen," she said.

"No one would mean harm," Princess Elephant said. "But mistakes can happen."

They asked the gardener, the page, and the cook's helper. Everyone listened kindly. No one had the acorn, but each person helped them think.

At last, a servant named Mira put down her dusting cloth.

"I remember seeing something shiny on the side table," she said. "I moved the bowl from that table to the kitchen before lunch."

"The nut bowl!" Squirrel said.

## The Kitchen Adventure

The friends hurried to the kitchen, where bowls of walnuts, almonds, and hazelnuts waited on the counter.

"Carefully," Owl said. "A golden acorn could be hiding under anything."

Rabbit checked the walnut bowl. Owl checked the shelf. Princess Elephant lifted each napkin with her trunk.

Squirrel sorted through the almonds with her quick little paws. Then she squeaked, "I found it!"

There, tucked between two almonds, was the golden acorn.

Princess Elephant held it gently. "Thank you," she said. "All of you."

Mira bowed her head. "I am sorry, Princess. I thought it was part of the nut bowl."

"It was an easy mistake," Princess Elephant said. "You helped us find it."

## A Joyful Celebration

Princess Elephant was so relieved that she invited everyone to a picnic outside the castle walls.

They spread a colorful blanket on the grass. The cook brought fruit, little cakes, and a bowl of ordinary acorns for Squirrel.

Princess Elephant placed the golden acorn in the middle of the blanket, where everyone could see it sparkle.

"I was worried when it went missing," she said. "But I felt braver when I asked for help."

## What They Remembered

Rabbit nibbled a carrot. "A fast search helps."

Squirrel held up an acorn. "A careful search helps too."

Owl nodded. "And questions help most of all."

Princess Elephant smiled at Mira, Rabbit, Squirrel, and Owl. "Then my golden acorn will remind me of two things now: my family, and the friends who helped me when I needed them."

After that, Princess Elephant kept the acorn on its sunny pedestal, but she added a small glass cover so it could not roll away again. And whenever she saw it shine, she remembered that true treasure is easier to protect when kindness, patience, and friendship stand nearby.
