# The Great Circus Repair

_A Storm Plan for a Smaller Show_

A storm leaves the circus field wet and messy before the evening show. The performers, animal keepers, and crew inspect the damage, cancel unsafe acts, and create a smaller show that keeps everyone comfortable.

## Story

## The Circus Comes to Town

The circus arrived with striped tents, bright wagons, and a popcorn cart that made the whole field smell warm and buttery.

The acrobats stretched on mats. The clowns sorted hats by size. The musicians tuned their trumpets. Keeper Ana checked that every animal had water, shade, and a quiet place to rest.

Ringmaster Ben walked the field with a clipboard.

"We open tonight only after the safety check," he reminded everyone.

The crew nodded. They had heard that rule many times, and they liked it.

## The Storm Strikes

After lunch, thunder rolled over the town. Rain drummed on the tents, and wind shook the bunting.

Everyone moved indoors until the storm passed. When the sky cleared, the circus field looked different. One banner had fallen. A practice mat was soaked. The tightrope area was too slippery. The small animal parade path had puddles across it.

No one blamed the weather. No one ran to fix things by themselves.

Ben lifted his clipboard. "We inspect first. Then we decide."

## After the Storm

The repair crew took down the loose banner. The clowns carried dry towels. The musicians moved their chairs to higher ground.

The animal keepers checked each resting area. Ellie the elephant stood calmly while her keeper moved her flower basket away from the mud. Bongo the monkey watched from his perch and handed wooden pegs to Ana one at a time.

"Useful helper," Ana said.

Some things could be repaired. Some things needed more time. The tightrope act would wait for another day.

## A New Show Order

Ben gathered everyone near the popcorn cart.

"Tonight's show will stay low, dry, and simple," he said.

The acrobats changed their act to a tumbling pattern on fresh mats. The clowns made a puddle joke with blue paper circles instead of real water. The musicians added a rain song. Ellie would carry paper flowers around the ring, and Bongo would tap three beats on his drum.

The new plan was not the plan they had practiced all week, but it fit the day they had.

## Showtime

When the audience arrived, Ben explained the change.

"The storm left us puddles," he said, "so our circus made a puddle-proof show."

The children laughed. The clowns stepped around blue paper puddles with careful serious faces. The acrobats rolled, balanced, and bowed on their dry mats. The musicians played so brightly that some children tapped their feet.

Ellie carried her paper flowers. Bongo tapped his drum exactly three times.

The show felt cheerful because it had been made with care.

## Celebration Time

Afterward, the performers shared popcorn under the mended banner.

"I missed the tightrope," one acrobat said, "but I liked knowing we made the right choice."

"The rain song was my favorite," said a clown.

Ben wrote a new note on his clipboard: Storm plan worked.

The circus would dry its mats, mend its ropes, and practice again tomorrow. For tonight, everyone was proud of the smaller show that had kept the whole crew safe and smiling.
