## Story

## Introducing the Animal Friends

In a small castle beside the forest lived a group of animal friends. Lucy was a little white rabbit who loved hide-and-seek. Max was a friendly dog with a wagging tail. Sammy was a busy squirrel who could turn almost anything into a game.

Every morning, they ate breakfast together in the sunny kitchen. Then they chose an adventure for the day.

Sometimes they followed the garden path. Sometimes they built stick houses in the courtyard. Sometimes they sat by the pond and watched beetles skate across the water.

In the evening, they came home to the cozy castle, told stories, and planned what they might make next.

## Creating Their Own Kingdom

One sunny afternoon, Lucy, Max, Sammy, and their friends were playing in the castle courtyard. They had crowns made from leaves, flags made from paper, and a blanket spread across the grass.

"We could make a pretend kingdom," Lucy said. "Everyone can have a role."

"I will be the bell ringer," said Sammy.

"I will welcome visitors," said Max.

The others chose roles too: gardener, song leader, snack helper, map keeper, and quiet-corner guard for anyone who needed a rest.

They wrote their first rule on a flat piece of bark: "Everyone gets a turn."

Then they rang a tiny bell, opened the courtyard gate, and began their first royal afternoon.

## Ruling with Kindness and Fairness

The animal friends were excited to be the rulers of their pretend kingdom. They had created something magical, and they wanted every visitor to feel welcome.

Lucy, Max, Sammy, and all the other animal friends ruled with kindness and fairness. Nobody was left out or treated as less important. Everyone was included in games, songs, and celebrations.

Other animals from the forest started visiting to see the courtyard kingdom. The friends welcomed each visitor and showed them the rules on the bark sign.

They also practiced being kind to themselves. When one friend felt tired or quiet, the others listened.

"Do you want a quiet corner or a song?" Lucy would ask.

"Quiet corner first," Sammy said one afternoon. "Song after."

That became another rule: "Feelings get room."

## The Magical Kingdom Spreads its Charm

As the animal friends continued to play with kindness and fairness, word of their courtyard kingdom spread throughout the forest. Animals from different paths came to visit.

The hedgehogs added a quiet reading hour. The birds added morning songs. The mice brought seed cakes for the welcome table.

One afternoon, children walking with the forest ranger heard the bell and came to see the pretend kingdom. They found animals wearing leaf crowns, sipping tea from tiny cups, and checking that every friend had a seat.

Some visitors thought it felt like a dream, but there it was: a castle courtyard where ordinary sticks, leaves, and flowers had become something special.

Before the children left, they made paper flags and promised to use the same rule at home: everyone gets a turn.

## A Kingdom Full of Friends

The animal friends continued to play in their kingdom within the forest. They loved their crowns and banners, but they loved the welcome table most of all.

Lucy hosted tea parties for the guests. Max showed visitors around the castle. Sammy performed careful acrobatics on the grass, where landing was soft.

As time went by, more and more animals came to visit, and each one was welcomed. The friends knew that kindness mattered no matter where someone came from or what they looked like.

When the visitors left through the forest paths, Lucy straightened her leaf crown and Max folded the picnic cloth.

"Same time tomorrow?" Sammy asked.

"Same kindness tomorrow," said Lucy.

The tiny bell rang again, bright and clear, across the courtyard.
