## Story

## The Magic Tree

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lily who loved exploring the forest near her house with her friends Timmy and Sophie.

One afternoon, they found a tree whose leaves glowed softly in the shade. A voice rustled through the branches.

"Bring me a wish," said the tree, "and I will help you think."

Lily wished for a table full of sweets. The branches shimmered, and three apples dropped into the grass.

"Only apples?" Timmy asked.

"A wish is a beginning," said the tree. "What can you make from what you have?"

The children sliced the apples with help from Lily's dad, added berries from home, and shared a fruit bowl beneath the branches.

## Sharing the Secret

The next day, Lily brought Timmy and Sophie back to the glowing tree with a notebook.

Timmy wished to fly like a bird. Sophie wished for new toys.

The tree rustled kindly. "What do those wishes tell you?"

"I want to feel high in the sky," said Timmy.

"I want something fun to play with," said Sophie.

So they made a kite from paper, string, and two thin sticks. Timmy ran with it until it lifted over the meadow, and Sophie decorated the tail with bright scraps of cloth.

The wish had changed shape, but it still came true in its own way.

## Stones Across the Stream

One day, the children came to a stream they wanted to cross. Lily asked the tree for a bridge, but no bridge appeared.

"Look around," whispered the leaves.

Timmy found flat stones. Sophie found a long branch to test the water. Lily noticed the safest crossing was a few steps upstream where the stream was shallow.

They crossed slowly, one at a time, and waited for each friend on the other side.

"The tree did help," said Sophie.

"It helped us notice," said Lily.

## Leaf Hall

Later that summer, the children wanted a forest clubhouse.

Instead of wishing for one to appear, they drew a plan under the magic tree. Lily's dad helped them choose safe fallen branches. Timmy tied knots. Sophie painted a sign. Lily swept the ground smooth.

It took several afternoons, and the clubhouse was small, crooked, and perfect.

They named it Leaf Hall and invited the tree to be the first guest.

The branches glowed brighter than ever.

## Years Beneath the Tree

Years later, Lily, Timmy, and Sophie still met beneath the magic tree.

Sometimes they brought hard questions. Sometimes they brought picnic bread. Sometimes they simply sat in the shade and listened to leaves moving above them.

The tree never handed them everything they wanted. It gave them something better: a quiet place to imagine, a reason to work together, and enough light to see the first step.
