## Story

## Jack Discovers Twinkle's Home

Jack was a curious boy who loved exploring the forest path near his house with his grandmother.

One afternoon, he noticed a tiny round door at the base of an oak tree. A lantern glowed beside it, and a row of acorn cups dried on a little shelf.

"Someone lives there," Grandmother said. "We should not touch the door."

Jack crouched a safe distance away. "Hello. I like your lantern."

The door opened, and a fairy with sparkling wings stepped out.

"Thank you," she said. "I am Twinkle. Most people walk past without noticing."

Jack smiled. "May we visit?"

"For a little while," said Twinkle. "And please keep my home private. Too many visitors would trample the moss."

Jack promised.

## Jack Becomes Friends with Twinkle

Jack visited Twinkle after school when Grandmother could walk with him. He brought drawings, seed packets, and stories from his classroom.

Twinkle showed him how dew collected in bluebell cups and how mushrooms helped the forest floor. She did not let him brew potions or handle magic tools, but she did teach him the names of flowers and insects.

One day, she invited him to a fairy lantern evening.

"Can I bring a friend?" Jack asked.

Twinkle thought carefully. "Only if your friend can keep the path quiet and the moss safe."

Jack nodded. A promise was not a small thing.

## Jack Accidentally Reveals Twinkle's Secret

The next week, Jack was playing in the forest with two friends. They noticed him glancing toward the old oak.

"What is over there?" one asked.

Jack was excited and answered too quickly. "A fairy home."

His friends ran toward the oak before Jack could explain the rules. They did not mean harm, but their feet crushed the mossy path, and one almost knocked over the acorn shelf.

Twinkle flew out, startled and pale.

"Stop," Jack called. "This is her home. We need to step back."

Everyone froze. Jack's stomach sank. He had broken his promise.

## Repairing the Mossy Door

The next day, Jack returned with Grandmother to apologize.

"I am sorry," he told Twinkle. "I shared your secret without asking. I should have protected your home."

Twinkle looked at the bent moss and the crooked shelf. "Can you help repair what was damaged?"

Jack and his friends brought soft soil, tiny stones, and a new acorn shelf carved by Grandmother. They made a small sign that read, "Quiet roots. Please stay on the path."

Twinkle forgave Jack after she saw that he understood the work, not only the words.

## Jack and Twinkle's Growing Friendship

Jack's visits became careful again. He finished homework, asked Grandmother, and walked only on the marked path.

One spring afternoon, they found a baby bird on the ground. Jack wanted to scoop it up, but Twinkle stopped him.

"First we look for the nest," she said. "Then we ask someone who knows birds."

Grandmother called the village bird keeper, who gently placed the bird back in a safe nest basket near the tree.

When the bird chirped the next morning, Jack and Twinkle watched from a distance and grinned at each other.

## Jack and Twinkle's Unbreakable Friendship

Seasons changed. Flowers opened, leaves drifted down, and frost silvered the oak roots.

Jack still visited Twinkle, and sometimes his friends came too. They stayed on the path, kept voices soft, and brought useful gifts: seeds, clean thread, or a story to tell by lantern light.

When Jack grew older and moved away, he left one last note by the oak:

"Thank you for teaching me how to notice small homes."

Twinkle kept the note folded inside an acorn cup. On quiet evenings, her lantern glowed warmly beside the path Jack had learned to protect.
