## Story

## The Barn Map

Mama Cow, Papa Pig, Little Sheep, and Baby Duck lived on a sunny farm with a red barn and a wide vegetable garden.

One rainy morning, Little Sheep found a folded paper tucked behind a feed bin.

"A map," she bleated.

Papa Pig shook off a bit of dust. "It shows the whole farm."

Baby Duck pointed with his beak. "The first clue is by the apple tree."

Mama Cow looked at the rain outside. "We will wait until the path is dry. Treasure hunts are better with steady feet."

After lunch, the sun came out. The family set off together.

## The Apple Tree Clue

The apple tree stood beside the garden fence. A ribbon fluttered on a low branch where everyone could reach it.

Little Sheep read the card tied to the ribbon.

`Find the place where water waits for thirsty roots.`

"The rain barrel," said Papa Pig.

They walked along the path, not through the vegetable beds. Baby Duck wanted to splash in a muddy rut, but Mama Cow shook her head.

"Around the mud," she said.

Baby Duck waddled around it and stayed clean enough.

## The Garden Gate

At the rain barrel, another clue was tucked under a smooth stone.

`Look where tiny green things begin.`

"The seed shelf," Little Sheep said.

The seed shelf was inside the garden shed, so Papa Pig opened the door and held it wide. No one reached over or pushed past the tools.

On the low shelf sat a small wooden box.

"Is that the treasure?" Baby Duck asked.

"Let us see," said Mama Cow.

## The Planting Box

Inside the box were seed packets: sunflowers, peas, carrots, and marigolds. There was also one final note.

`Treasure grows when everyone cares for it.`

Papa Pig laughed softly. "A planting treasure."

Each family member chose one packet. Mama Cow made neat rows. Papa Pig loosened the soil. Little Sheep placed seeds in the holes. Baby Duck patted the soil gently with his webbed feet.

When they finished, the garden looked quiet. Nothing had sprouted yet.

"Where is the treasure?" Baby Duck asked.

Mama Cow pointed to the soil. "Waiting."

The family visited the rows every day. Soon tiny green leaves rose from the ground, and the map went back in the barn for the next rainy morning.
