## Story

## Winter Comes to the Forest

Once upon a time, in a beautiful forest filled with tall trees and colorful flowers, there lived many animals. There were rabbits who hopped around quickly, squirrels who gathered nuts, birds that chirped melodiously and many more.

One day, the leaves on the trees started to turn brown and drift down. The air became colder every day. Soon enough winter had arrived! With winter came snow, which made it difficult for all the animals to find food. The little creatures in the forest began to worry about having enough to eat.

The rabbits noticed that there were not as many carrots as before, and the squirrels found it hard to collect nuts buried under thick layers of snow. All across the forest, animals were struggling to find enough food to eat during this chilly season.

Despite living in different parts of the forest, all these creatures shared one common worry: they did not know how they would get through this tough time without enough food!

But what could they do? They needed help - or did they?

## Rosie's Kindness

Rosie knew that she had some extra carrots stashed away somewhere. She decided to share them with her friends so that they would not have to go hungry. The idea of sharing made her feel happy inside because doing something nice for others is its own reward.

When Rosie shared her carrots with her friends, they were surprised by how sweet and delicious they tasted! They thanked Rosie for being so thoughtful and generous.

After seeing how happy sharing made everyone feel, other animals started following Rosie's example too. Squirrel shared his acorns, Owl shared his berries, and Fox even brought some fish he gathered from the creek!

Before long, all the animals in the forest started sharing their food with each other. The winter table grew brighter with acorns, berries, fish, and Rosie's sweet carrots.

## Discovering New Ways of Finding Food

With everyone sharing their food, the group of animal friends felt closer than ever. They realized that by working together, they could find new ways to survive the winter months.

One day, while out on a search for more food, Rosie the rabbit stumbled upon a berry bush she had never seen before. She quickly called over her friends to see if anyone recognized it.

The squirrel, who was known for his love of nuts and berries, took one look at the bush and exclaimed, "It is a blackberry bush! These are my favorite!" The rest of the animals were delighted at this discovery and started picking as many berries as they could.

While munching on their delicious treats, they noticed something interesting - there were still a lot of unripe berries on the bush that would be ready in a few weeks' time. That was when Frankie the Fox suggested coming back later once all those berries had ripened so that everyone could have enough food for days.

As winter progressed, each animal used a different skill to help find food. Birds collected seeds from plants, squirrels gathered nuts from trees, rabbits dug roots from under the snow, and foxes searched for safe paths through the drifts.

By working together and sharing resources with each other - these animal friends discovered new foods which not only gave them sustenance but also kept them entertained during long winter days!

## The Benefits of Helping Each Other

As winter came to an end, the forest started to wake up. Little green buds popped out from the trees, colorful flowers bloomed on the ground, and birds sang from the branches again.

The group of animal friends who had learned to share during winter stayed together, happy as ever. Soon they noticed something peculiar: there seemed to be a lot more food growing this year than before.

Rosie spotted some juicy berries hanging from a nearby bush and called her friends over. They gathered around, sniffing the sweet smell.

"Let us share these berries like we did with our food during winter!" Rosie said.

Everyone agreed immediately. After all, sharing had helped them survive those tough times. So they each took only what they needed and left enough for others too.

And like that, another habit formed among the animal friends: sharing what they had so everyone could enjoy enough.

As spring continued, their bond grew stronger through shared meals and small acts of kindness. Whenever someone needed help or support, the others were ready to lend a paw or wing.

Long after spring turned into summer, the animals kept sharing what they had. A spare carrot, a dry nest, or a cool sip of water became a small way to keep everyone safe and happy.

## Sharing Becomes a Habit

At the next forest gathering, Rosie brought her basket again. This time it held carrots, berries, and a few acorns that Sammy had tucked in for anyone who needed them.

"Hey, guys," called out Rosie. "I brought extra. Would anyone like some?"

The other animals gathered around with happy chatter.

"I would love some!" exclaimed Billy the bear.

"I could use a carrot or two," said Sammy the squirrel shyly.

Soon enough, all of the animals came together around Rosie as she passed out the food. They were so grateful for her kindness that they began adding their own treats to the basket too.

As they shared their food, something wonderful happened: they all grew closer. They learned that working together made hard seasons easier.

They soon discovered new ways of finding food by working as a team. Sammy gathered nuts from sturdy branches while Billy dug up roots for everyone else.

When spring returned again with fruits and vegetables growing everywhere, the animal friends knew that sharing was worth keeping as a habit for life.

Rosie kept a small basket near her door after that, ready for extra carrots, berries, or acorns. It reminded everyone that kindness was easier to practice when they made room for it every day.
