# Sparkle's Flight of Confidence

## Story

## Sparkle Takes a Tumble

Sparkle was a unicorn with silver wings and a careful heart. In the magic circus, she usually glided in a slow circle above the low ring while the musicians played.

One morning during rehearsal, Sparkle's wing clipped a ribbon. She landed safely on the padded mat, but the wobble shook her confidence.

"I do not want to fly today," she whispered.

Coach Mira checked Sparkle's wings and the ribbons. "Your body is all right," she said. "Your courage needs time. We can give it time."

## Sparkle's Friends Try to Help

The clowns brought jokes. The musicians played Sparkle's favorite tune. The ringmaster offered extra sparkle powder for her mane.

Sparkle liked their kindness, but she still did not want to fly.

Then her friend Lily said, "Maybe Sparkle does not need cheering first. Maybe she needs a smaller step."

Coach Mira nodded. "Good idea."

They moved the ribbons farther away and placed a blue line on the mat.

## Lily's Visit

Lily stood beside Sparkle at the blue line.

"Can you walk the flight path first?" Lily asked.

Sparkle walked it. Then she trotted it. Then she opened her wings without leaving the ground.

"That is still practice," Lily said.

Sparkle breathed more easily. Flying did not have to return all at once.

The next day, she lifted one hoof-length above the mat and landed again.

## Sparkle Soars Again

At the afternoon show, Coach Mira changed Sparkle's act.

"Today Sparkle will show us a careful first flight," the ringmaster announced.

The music began softly. Sparkle walked the blue line, opened her wings, and rose high enough for her hooves to brush the tops of the paper flowers.

She made one small circle and landed on the mat.

The applause was gentle at first, then bright and full.

Sparkle bowed. She had not flown the biggest flight. She had flown the right flight for that day, and that made her shine.
