## Story

In a charming cottage with bright red geraniums blooming in window boxes, lived Penny the Pig. She spent her days crafting elaborate mud pies in her garden, but she wanted someone to share them with. From her favorite mud patch, she could see other animals playing together by the river, their joyful sounds carrying across the morning air.

"These mud pies would be so much more special with a friend," Penny mused, carefully decorating her latest creation with colorful river stones. She had perfected her recipe, but celebrating by herself made even the best mud pie feel incomplete. One bright morning, Penny ventured closer to the river to collect special ingredients for her pies. As she sorted through smooth pebbles, a tremendous splash drenched her from head to tail! A pristine white duck emerged from the water, looking embarrassed by the accident.

"Oh goodness! I am terribly sorry!" the duck said, adjusting her perfectly arranged feathers. "I am Diana Duck, and I was practicing my synchronized swimming. I did not expect anyone to be here!"

"I am Penny," the pig replied cheerfully, shaking water from her ears. "Would you like to try making mud pies? I have discovered a wonderful new recipe using river clay!" Diana's beak twitched nervously.

"That is kind, but I prefer keeping my feathers spotless. Perhaps we could practice water ballet instead?"

They tried finding activities they both enjoyed, but their differences kept getting in the way. Diana cringed whenever mud splattered nearby, while Penny struggled to stay graceful in the wider water. Each wondered why the other could not see the fun in their favorite pastimes. During an enthusiastic attempt at waterside tag, Penny slipped on a wet stone. Her tumble created a massive splash that covered Diana's immaculate feathers in brown spots. Diana's eyes widened in surprise.

"I need to clean up," Diana whispered, flying away with muddy droplets trailing behind her. Penny watched quietly as her new friend landed downstream, carefully washing each feather in the crystal-clear water. Something clicked in Penny's mind: Diana's need for cleanliness was not silly; it was part of who she was, the same way Penny loved mud.

The following afternoon, Penny gathered her courage and waded into the clean part of the river.

"Diana?" she called softly. "I have been thinking about yesterday. We are different, but maybe that makes things more interesting?" Diana paddled closer, surprised to find Penny in open water.

"You are swimming without making mud?"

"I thought I could try seeing things your way," Penny smiled. "And maybe we could invent games that celebrate both our styles?"

Their creativity sparked something wonderful. They developed "Splash and Sculpt" - Diana would dive for beautiful stones and water plants, while Penny incorporated them into artistic mud sculptures. Diana learned to enjoy controlled mud painting, and Penny discovered the joy of gentle swimming on hot days.
