## Story

Luna's white paws padded across another empty cloud room. She had explored twelve rooms today. Twelve rooms with no one inside. Her bright blue eyes spotted something different: a tiny chamber with sunshine pouring through the window. And there, resting on a fluffy pillow, sat a golden bell.

Luna crept closer. The bell caught the light like a captured star. She touched it with one paw. _Ting!_ The sound made her whiskers twitch with delight. She could keep it! It could be her special treasure in this quiet castle.

But something felt wrong in her tummy. _Someone might be searching for this,_ she thought.

A blue blur shot through the window. Luna jumped back as feathers and wind filled the room. A small bird landed hard, chest heaving, eyes wild.

"Where is it? Where, where, where?" the bird chirped, spinning in circles.

Luna's quick legs carried her forward. "I am Luna. What is wrong?"

The bird barely looked at her. "My bell! I cannot find my grandmother's bell! I have looked everywhere!"

Luna's heart leaped. "A bell? I found one! Right here!" She held up the golden bell, already imagining the bird's happy face.

But the bird's shoulders slumped. Her voice went quiet. "That is not mine. Mine is silver."

A single tear rolled down the bird's beak.

Luna set the golden bell down slowly. She had been so sure. Her clever mind had figured everything out, except it was wrong.

The bird turned toward the window. "I should keep looking by myself."

"Wait!" Luna hopped in front of her. "I will help you find it."

"Why would you do that?" the bird asked.

Luna did not know exactly why. She knew she could not let this worried bird fly away without help. "Because you need help. I am Luna. What is your name?"

"Bluebird," she whispered.

"Then let us search together, Bluebird."

They started in the towers. Luna checked behind curtains while Bluebird looked on high shelves. Nothing. They bounced through bedrooms. Luna squeezed under cloud beds while Bluebird peeked in closets. Nothing. They searched the kitchen, the library, the ballroom. Each empty room made Bluebird's wings droop lower.

Luna's paws started to hurt. Her stomach rumbled. This was taking a long time. _Maybe I should go back to my room,_ she thought. _I tried to help._

But when she looked at Bluebird's tired face, Luna could not leave.

"Let us rest," Luna said, guiding her friend to soft cushions in a corner.

They sat without talking. Luna had never sat quietly with anyone before.

"Tell me about your bell," Luna said gently.

Bluebird's voice cracked. "My grandmother gave it to me before she flew beyond the far clouds. When it rings, I hear her song. It sounds like her wings hugging me." Fresh tears appeared. "Without it, I miss her so much."

Luna understood that feeling. She had felt it all day in this big castle. She moved closer and touched Bluebird's wing with her paw. "You are not by yourself right now. And we are going to find your bell."

"How? We have looked everywhere."

Luna closed her bright blue eyes. She made her clever mind slow down and think carefully. Where had she been this morning before finding the golden bell? The library, the tower, that sunny room, and before that?

Her eyes popped open. "The garden! I hopped through the garden early this morning! I saw something shiny!"

They raced together, Luna's quick paws and Bluebird's swift wings moving side by side. The cloud garden sparkled with soft white flowers that swayed like snow. Luna dove between petals, searching, searching.

"There!" Bluebird cried.

Tangled in a cloud-flower's stem hung a silver bell, no bigger than an acorn. Bluebird freed it with gentle wings. She held it close, then rang it softly. _Ling-ling-ling._

The sound was nothing like the golden bell. It was warmer, softer, like a lullaby hummed at bedtime. Bluebird's whole body relaxed. "I can hear her again."

Luna watched her friend's joy and felt something warm bloom in her own chest. She did not have a grandmother's bell, but she had this: the happiness of helping someone else feel loved.

Bluebird flew to Luna and wrapped her in soft wings. "You spent your whole day helping me. You sat with me when my heart felt heavy. You did not give up."

"I am glad we found it," Luna said.

"Wait here." Bluebird flew back to the sunny room and returned carrying the golden bell. "Someone left this behind. I think it should be yours now, so you remember that kindness makes the best friends."

Luna accepted it carefully. When she rang it, the sound reminded her that she had a friend now.

"Want to explore the castle together?" Luna asked.

"Every single room!" Bluebird sang.

Two bells rang through the cloud garden, one silver and one gold, and for the first time, Luna's home did not feel empty at all.
