## Story

The Enchanted Grove whispered awake.

Mist curled between silver-barked trees as Luna stepped through the sleeping Moonflowers.

Her lavender horn glowed softly.

"Good morning, little one," she murmured.

The flower trembled, then opened with a sound like wind chimes.

Beyond the trees, three young unicorns chased each other through rainbow puddles.

Their laughter sparkled like scattered gems.

Luna's hooves shifted toward them, then stopped.

Her heart wanted to join them, but her voice felt too small.

She turned back to her flowers instead.

"Luna," rumbled a warm, gentle voice.

Elder Maple's bark-carved face smiled down at her.

"The Great Moonflower needs watering before sunset. Our whole grove depends on its light when evening comes."

Luna's horn brightened.

"I will not forget," she promised.

The morning passed in quiet contentment.

Then something impossible caught her eye - a butterfly with wings that held every color at once.

Sapphire melted into rose, rose shimmered into gold.

The butterfly landed on a nearby fern, then fluttered away.

Luna took one step after it.

Just one.

But the butterfly danced back, inviting her to play.

Luna's careful walk became a trot, then a canter, then a gallop.

The butterfly led her past flowers that rang like bells.

It swooped under branches draped with moss that glittered like starlight.

They reached a hidden meadow where flowers grew in spiraling rainbows.

The butterfly settled on Luna's horn for one perfect moment.

Then it dissolved into a thousand sparkles that rained down like wishes.

Luna stood breathless.

The meadow glowed around her.

Then she noticed the light.

It had changed from bright gold to rich amber.

Long blue lines stretched across the grass.

The sun hung low, already kissing the treetops.

Her promise crashed over her like icy water.

"No, no, no!"

Luna wheeled around and galloped back toward the grove.

The Crystal Spring lay far to the west, past the singing stream and through the silver forest.

The Great Moonflower would need buckets and buckets of water, far more than she could carry.

Her legs trembled as she ran.

The night creatures needed the Moonflower's light to find their burrows.

The evening birds needed it to guide them home.

Without it, the grove would lose its guiding glow.

But even as she ran, she knew the truth.

The spring was too far.

She was too small.

"I cannot do this by myself," she whispered.

The words felt like admitting defeat.

Luna had always worked by herself.

She had never wanted to bother anyone.

But now she needed help.

Ahead, through a gap in the trees, she spotted them.

Starfire, Dewdrop, and Shimmer played in a clearing, their horns bright with joy.

They looked so confident, so sure of everything.

Luna's stomach twisted.

What if they laughed?

What if they thought her careless for forgetting something so important?

But the sun kept sinking.

Luna forced her hooves to move.

One step.

Another.

"Um," she said.

The word came out smaller than a mouse's whisper.

The three unicorns kept playing.

Luna's throat closed up.

She wanted to run away, to hide.

But then she thought of Elder Maple's kind face.

She thought of the grove without its guiding light.

She thought of how quiet she had felt all morning.

She took a shaky breath.

"Please! I need help!"

The three unicorns stopped.

They turned, their expressions curious and concerned.

"What is wrong?"

Starfire asked gently.

The words tumbled out in a rush.

"I forgot to water the Great Moonflower, and the sun is almost gone, and the spring is so far away, and I am not strong enough by myself."

Her voice cracked.

She looked down at her hooves, waiting for laughter.

Instead, Dewdrop stepped closer.

"We will help you!"

Luna's head jerked up.

"But I forgot. I made a big mistake."

Shimmer's golden horn glowed warmly.

"I once forgot to close the gate to the star garden."

The moon rabbits ate all the light berries.

"And I forgot to sing the rain song during the dry spell," Dewdrop added.

Starfire nodded.

"Last month I forgot to tell the fireflies when to start their evening dance."

They blinked randomly for three whole nights.

The three unicorns shared gentle smiles.

"Everyone forgets sometimes."

"That is why we have friends: to help when we need it."

Something warm bloomed in Luna's chest, pushing out the cold worry.

"Let us go," Dewdrop said.

"Together, we can do this!"

The four unicorns raced toward the Crystal Spring.

When they reached it, the water glowed blue-white in the fading light.

Starfire's crimson horn blazed bright.

She lifted the water into shimmering spheres that floated like bubbles.

Dewdrop sang a rippling melody, and the water danced through the air in graceful streams.

Shimmer wove ribbons of golden light around the water, keeping it from spilling.

And Luna led the way, her heart no longer heavy but full.

They burst into the grove's heart just as the last edge of sun slipped below the horizon.

The Great Moonflower drooped against Elder Maple's trunk, its petals gray and fading.

"Now!"

Luna called.

Four streams of water arced through the twilight - red magic, blue song, golden light, and lavender love.

They met at the Moonflower's roots and soaked into the earth.

For one long moment, nothing happened.

Then the Great Moonflower trembled.

A glow sparked at its center.

The light grew, spreading up its stem and into its petals.

Brighter and brighter it shone, until the entire grove blazed with silver radiance.

"Extraordinary," Elder Maple murmured.

"Four friends working together create magic stronger than one ever could."

Luna's eyes filled with happy tears that caught the moonlight like tiny diamonds.

"Thank you. I felt so nervous asking."

"We are so glad you were brave enough to try," Shimmer said softly.

The Moonflower's light pulsed around them like a heartbeat, warm and welcoming.

Now when dawn paints the Enchanted Grove in silver and rose, four unicorns greet the morning together.

Luna still whispers kind words to the Moonflowers, but now Starfire adds gentle songs, Dewdrop sprinkles fresh dew, and Shimmer weaves light between the petals.

Their laughter rings through the ancient trees.

Luna tends the flowers she loves, but she does not tend them by herself anymore.

And every evening, all four friends make sure the Great Moonflower gets its water - because they remember together what matters most.
