## Story

Stella stepped into the farmyard as the first rays of sunlight touched Meadowbrook Farm.

Her silver horn caught the light and scattered it into a thousand rainbow sparkles that danced across the dewy grass.

"Good morning!" she called.

The chickens fluffed their feathers and clucked cheerful greetings.

Three rabbits hopped over, their whiskers twitching hello.

The goats bleated from their pen, already munching breakfast hay.

Stella trotted to the vegetable garden where tomato plants grew up their stakes and cucumber vines sprawled between the rows.

She lowered her horn toward the thirsty leaves.

Her magic made each water droplet shimmer like a tiny prism, painting rainbows across the beans and squash.

"Your light makes everything prettier," said Henrietta the hen, scratching nearby.

Stella's chest felt warm and full.

She loved sharing her glow with the farm.

But the next morning, something felt wrong before Stella even opened her eyes.

Her stall seemed dimmer.

Colder.

She lifted her head and waited for the familiar glow to brighten the stall.

Nothing happened.

She turned toward the window where sunlight streamed through, angling her horn to catch the light.

Still nothing.

Her horn looked like old gray stone.

Dull and ordinary.

Empty.

Stella touched it with one hoof, her heart pounding.

This could not be real.

Her sparkle was part of her - it had always been there.

But now it was gone.

A heavy weight pressed against her chest, making it hard to breathe.

Her legs trembled.

Without her sparkle, she felt like just a regular horse with a pointy horn.

The thought made her stomach twist.

Biscuit's voice called from the farmyard.

"Stella? Are you coming out?"

Stella shrank back against the wall.

"Not today," she whispered.

Hours crept by.

Outside, the farm hummed with life - chickens scratching, rabbits playing, goats butting heads in their games.

But Stella stayed hidden in the corner of her stall.

The sound of slow footsteps approached.

Biscuit's gray muzzle appeared over the door.

"Something is hurting you," he said quietly.

"I can see it."

Stella's throat tightened.

"How did you know?"

"I am old. I have learned to recognize hurting hearts."

He settled onto the straw with a soft grunt.

"There is someone who might help."

The Wise Owl, in the oak tree past the gardens.

"I cannot go out there."

Stella's voice cracked.

"Everyone will see that I am not special anymore."

Biscuit's brown eyes stayed steady and kind.

"The oak tree is far when your heart feels heavy. But hiding will not fix what is hurting."

And I think you have more courage than you know.

Stella stared at her gray horn.

Every part of her wanted to stay tucked inside the quiet stall.

But Biscuit waited, patient and believing.

Stella took one shaky step forward.

Her heart hammered so hard she thought everyone on the farm must hear it.

Another step.

Then another.

When she stepped through the barn door, the sunlight felt like a spotlight exposing every flaw.

She wanted to run back inside.

Instead, she pointed herself toward the garden path and kept walking.

Henrietta was pecking near the tomato plants.

She glanced up and her beak opened wide.

"Stella! Your horn is not glowing."

Heat flooded Stella's face.

She wanted to disappear.

But she forced herself to stand still and speak.

"My sparkle is gone. I do not understand why. I feel really, really heavy."

The words hung in the air between them.

Saying them out loud made them more real, and Stella's eyes stung.

Henrietta stepped closer, her voice soft.

"I am sorry."

"That must feel hard."

Something in Stella's chest loosened, just a fraction.

She walked on.

At the goat pen, three curious faces turned toward her.

"What happened to your magic?"

the biggest goat asked.

This time, speaking felt slightly easier.

"My sparkle disappeared. I am going to see the Wise Owl for help."

"That is a long walk when you are hurting," said the smallest goat.

"Want us to come partway?"

They walked with her to the rabbit hutch.

The three rabbits hopped over, noticed her dull horn, and did not look away or whisper.

When Stella told them what happened, they pressed close against her legs.

"You are being brave, going for help when you feel this bad," one rabbit said.

Brave?

Stella had not thought of it that way.

She had thought she was barely keeping herself together.

But each time she admitted how she felt, the crushing weight on her heart grew lighter.

The ancient oak tree rose before her, its branches spreading wide.

In a hollow halfway up the trunk, two golden eyes blinked open.

"Hello, young one," the Wise Owl said.

"You have come a long way today."

"My sparkle is gone."

Stella's voice was steady now.

"I thought it was what made me matter. What made me feel like me."

The Wise Owl's head tilted.

"Were you worried when you woke without your glow?"

"Yes."

"Did you hide?"

"Yes."

"And then what did you do?"

Stella thought about Biscuit's gentle encouragement.

About stepping into the bright farmyard even though shame burned in her chest.

About telling Henrietta the truth.

About accepting the goats' company and the rabbits' comfort.

"I walked here anyway. I told my friends I was hurting, even though I was embarrassed."

The Wise Owl's eyes gleamed.

"That is where your truest sparkle lives, little one."

Not in magic that makes pretty rainbows, though that is lovely.

"Your real light shines when you are brave enough to feel hard feelings, ask for help, and let others see you when you are hurting."

The words sank into Stella like rain into thirsty earth.

"So I was brave today?"

"Remarkably brave."

"Facing heavy feelings takes more courage than any magic."

Stella started back toward the barn, turning the Owl's words over in her mind.

But she did not walk by herself.

Biscuit appeared on the path.

Then Henrietta.

Then the goats and rabbits.

They surrounded her, not trying to fix her heavy feeling or make it vanish, just walking beside her.

"Thank you for trusting us with your feelings," Henrietta said.

"It helps us be better friends."

Warmth bloomed in Stella's chest, different from before.

Warmer.

Steadier.

She glanced down at her horn and gasped.

A soft glow had returned.

Not the bright, showy sparkle of yesterday, but something gentler.

Like a candle flame instead of fireworks.

"It is coming back," she breathed.

"It never truly left," Biscuit said.

"You just found it in a new place."

The glow grew stronger with each step toward home, fed by the friends walking beside her and the courage it took to let them in.

Morning sunlight poured through the barn windows.

Stella stretched and watched her horn scatter rainbow sparkles across the hay, just like always.

She walked into the farmyard and greeted her friends.

She helped water the gardens, her magic making dewdrops shimmer and dance.

But everything felt different now.

She felt different.

When the young rabbits gathered around, Stella lowered her head so they could see her horn's glow.

"What if your sparkle goes away again?"

the smallest rabbit asked.

"Then I will remember what to do," Stella said, her voice calm and sure. "I will tell someone how I am feeling. I will ask for help. I will let my friends walk beside me."

That takes courage, and courage is the bravest magic there is.

Her horn glowed brighter. Stella looked at the friends walking beside her and let their care reach the places she had tried to hide.
