## Story

Celestia watched sunlight shimmer across the rainbow meadow.

Her silver mane caught the breeze as she stood near the ancient oak where she spent most days now.

Other unicorns trotted past, their laughter bright as wind chimes.

They waved but did not stop.

Celestia told herself she preferred it this way.

She had important work.

Star charts to study.

Moon phases to record.

Ancient healing spells to preserve.

But sometimes, when the meadow grew quiet, something inside her chest felt hollow.

She returned to her oak and spread out a constellation map.

Her horn glowed softly as she traced the star patterns with careful attention.

A sound drifted through the trees.

Celestia lifted her head.

The sound reminded her of bells, but sweeter.

More alive.

The melody tugged at something deep inside her.

She left her charts and followed the chiming past silver birch trees where dewdrops sparkled like tiny diamonds.

The sound grew clearer with each step.

The melody led her to a small clearing hidden behind a curtain of willow branches.

Seven smooth stones sat in a perfect circle on the moss.

Each stone glowed with its own color.

Violet, emerald, sapphire, gold, rose, amber, and pearl.

The chiming flowed from them like water over rocks.

Celestia stepped closer.

Her reflection wavered in the violet stone's polished surface.

She lowered her horn until it barely touched the stone.

Warmth rushed through her from horn to hooves.

Then words filled her mind, gentle as a whisper.

"Thank you for watering my moonflowers."

Celestia jerked her horn back.

That voice belonged to Iris, a young unicorn with a purple mane who had traveled to the northern meadows three days ago.

Then the memory crashed into her like cold water.

Iris had asked her to water the moonflowers.

Celestia had nodded, already thinking about her star charts.

She had completely forgotten.

Her hooves pressed into the soft moss.

She stared at the emerald stone for a long moment before touching it.

"I wish Celestia had time to hear about my new spell."

Meadow.

Yesterday, the eager young unicorn had galloped up while Celestia organized healing herbs.

Celestia had barely glanced up before saying she could not talk right now.

The way Meadow's ears had drooped played through her mind like a scene she wished she could change.

Celestia moved around the circle.

Each stone held a different voice.

The sapphire stone: "I wanted to show Celestia the rainbow I made, but she looked annoyed."

The gold stone: "Does Celestia even remember us anymore?"

The rose stone: "Maybe we should leave her alone."

The amber stone: "I needed help with my flying practice, but I was too nervous to ask."

Celestia touched the pearl stone last.

The smallest, quietest voice belonged to Twilight, the youngest unicorn in the sanctuary.

"I miss my friend."

Celestia stood in the center of the stone circle.

Seven voices surrounded her.

Seven unicorns she had pushed away without meaning to.

Her horn dimmed until it barely glowed at all.

She had thought focusing on her studies was responsible.

She had believed preserving ancient knowledge mattered most.

But while she bent over maps and scrolls, she had let something more important slip away.

The promises she made.

The attention she owed.

The presence that friendship required.

These stones were not scolding her.

They were showing her what she could not see on her own.

Celestia walked straight to the moonflower garden.

Iris's flowers drooped over the dry soil, their silver petals curling at the edges.

Celestia's horn blazed bright.

Cool water spiraled from its tip and showered the thirsty plants.

The moonflowers lifted their heads.

Their petals began to shimmer again.

Next, Celestia found Meadow near the crystal waterfall.

The young unicorn glanced up, then quickly returned to her spell practice.

"Meadow," Celestia said, settling onto the grass beside her.

Meadow's ears twitched but she did not look up.

"I would love to hear about your new spell," Celestia continued.

"I should have listened before. I am sorry I did not."

Meadow's head turned.

Her eyes went wide.

"You want to hear about it now?"

"Yes. And I would like to see it too."

Meadow's whole face brightened like sunrise.

Her horn glowed as she demonstrated her spell.

Tiny rainbows danced and swirled above the waterfall's mist, each one spinning in its own pattern.

"That is remarkable," Celestia said, watching the light curve and bend.

"The way you layered the colors shows real creativity."

"Really?" Meadow asked.

"Really."

Other unicorns noticed them talking.

They approached slowly, hooves careful on the grass.

Celestia smiled at each one.

"Twilight, I heard you created a rainbow yesterday. Would you show me?"

Twilight's ears perked straight up.

Her horn glowed soft pink.

A small but perfect rainbow arced over the waterfall, its colors pure and steady.

"Look at how strong you kept the red band," Celestia said.

"That takes real concentration."

Twilight's eyes sparkled.

Comet showed his improved gallop.

Luna demonstrated how she made flowers bloom faster.

One by one, each young unicorn shared what they had been working on.

Celestia watched and listened.

Really listened.

The way she used to before her studies became walls instead of windows.

That evening, Celestia returned to the stone circle.

The stones still glowed, but their melody sounded different now.

Lighter somehow.

Like laughter instead of longing.

She touched the violet stone.

"Celestia saved my moonflowers!"

The emerald stone: "She watched my whole spell and helped me make it better."

The sapphire stone: "Celestia came back."

The pearl stone hummed with warmth.

"I have my friend again."

Celestia touched each stone gently.

She sent her own thought into the circle.

"Thank you for showing me what I forgot."

The next morning, Celestia still studied her spells and charted star patterns.

But now, every afternoon, she spent time in the meadow.

She listened to discoveries.

She watched progress.

She kept her promises.

When Comet asked her to help gather starflowers for a celebration, Celestia did not say she was too occupied.

"I would be honored," she said.

"Shall we go now?"

As they walked through the enchanted grove, Comet chattering about the celebration, Celestia heard the distant chiming of the stones.

Their melody reminded her of what she had learned.

Wisdom was not just knowing things.

It was knowing what deserved her time and heart.

The unicorns around her needed more than her knowledge.

They needed her presence.

Her attention.

Her care.

They needed her friendship.

And friendship, she understood now, required more than good intentions.

It required showing up.
