Finding Courage Within
The Giant's Garden of Questions

This unique tale weaves together elements of friendship, growth, and the importance of asking questions through the unlikely partnership between a shy boy and a wise garden giant. The story uses the magical setting of an enormous garden to explore how facing our fears helps us grow.

Tommy lived on a farm with his family, but he always felt too shy to ask questions when he didn’t understand something. One day, while exploring the far corner of their property, he discovered an enormous garden with flowers as tall as trees and vegetables bigger than cars.

In the middle of this magnificent garden stood Eldor, an ancient giant carefully tending to his enormous plants. Tommy watched from behind a giant sunflower, amazed but too nervous to speak up. The giant’s gentle humming filled the air as he worked, making the garden feel magical and somehow less scary.

One morning, Tommy gathered his courage and stepped into the open. Eldor’s kind eyes crinkled as he smiled down at the small boy.

“Welcome, young friend. I’ve been waiting for you to join me,” the giant said in a voice that rumbled like distant thunder but felt warm as summer rain.

As days passed, Tommy helped Eldor in the garden, but still struggled to ask questions when he didn’t understand something. Instead, he tried to figure everything out himself, often making mistakes that affected the giant plants.

When he accidentally pulled up what he thought were weeds but were actually rare singing flowers, Tommy felt terrible but stayed quiet. The garden began to show signs of trouble. The singing flowers stopped their melody, and other plants started wilting. Eldor noticed Tommy’s worried expression but waited patiently for the boy to speak up.

Finally, during a quiet moment while they sat beneath an enormous apple tree, Tommy burst into tears.

“I’m sorry! I pulled up the singing flowers because I didn’t know what they were, and I was too afraid to ask!”

Eldor gently lifted Tommy onto his massive palm.

“Little friend,” he said softly, “questions are like seeds.”

Together, they replanted new singing flower seeds, and this time, Tommy asked every question that came to mind. As they worked, Eldor shared ancient gardening wisdom, and Tommy learned that asking questions wasn’t scary at all – it was how you grew stronger and wiser.

By summer’s end, the garden bloomed more beautifully than ever before. The singing flowers created wonderful melodies, and Tommy had grown too – not in size like the giant plants, but in confidence. He became known in school as someone who asked thoughtful questions and helped others find answers too.
