The Farmyard Treasure Hunt
A Tale of Teamwork and Perseverance
Rabbit, Fox, Squirrel, and Sheep follow a farmyard treasure map through safe paths, garden clues, and a shady orchard. Their treasure is a basket of apples to share after a careful day of exploring.
A Day on the Farm
Rabbit, Fox, Squirrel, and Sheep met beside the barn after breakfast. The sun was warm, and the farm paths were dry.

“What should we play?” asked Squirrel.
Rabbit pulled a folded paper from under a flowerpot. “Treasure hunt.”
The map showed the barn, the vegetable garden, the apple tree, and one big X near the shade fence.
Sheep read the first clue.
Start where the carrots sleep.
“The garden,” said Fox.
They set off together, staying on the path between the rows.
Garden Clues
At the carrot bed, Rabbit found a second clue tied to a short stick.

Look for the place where bees visit yellow faces.
“Sunflowers,” said Squirrel.
The sunflower patch was across a muddy strip. Fox started to step into it, then stopped.
“This mud is sticky.”
Sheep pointed to flat stepping stones beside the fence. “That way is cleaner.”
They crossed on the stones one at a time. Squirrel found the clue behind a sunflower leaf.
The Apple Tree
The next clue led to the old apple tree. Its branches were full, but the friends did not go up them. They looked on the ground for fallen apples instead.

“Some are bruised,” said Sheep.
“Some are ready,” said Rabbit.
Under the tree sat a small basket with a ribbon around the handle.
Fox lifted the card from inside.
Treasure tastes best when shared.
Squirrel grinned. “I know this treasure.”
Sharing the Treasure
The friends carried the apple basket to the shade fence. Rabbit counted the apples. Fox found a clean cloth. Sheep nudged the basket into the middle. Squirrel chose the smallest apple because it fit perfectly in her paws.

“This was a good hunt,” said Sheep.
“Nobody rushed,” said Fox.
“Nobody got muddy feet,” added Rabbit.
They ate slowly in the shade while the barn cat watched from the steps. When the basket was empty, Rabbit folded the map and tucked it back under the flowerpot for another sunny day.
