The Moonlit Library Bear
A Tale of True Friendship
Bernard likes every library book and chair in its proper place until Whisper the orange cat curls up in his favorite seat. With help from Owl, they turn the moonlit library into a warmer place for every forest reader.
In a cozy forest library nestled between towering pines, there lived a friendly brown bear named Bernard who loved arranging books by moonlight. He took great pride in keeping the library tidy and organizing everything just so.

One evening, Bernard found something that disturbed his careful order: a small orange cat had slipped into the library and was curled up in his favorite reading chair. Bernard huffed and puffed, for he did not like when things were not exactly as they should be.
“Excuse me,” he grumbled, “but that is my special chair, and cats do not belong in libraries.”

The cat, who introduced herself as Whisper, simply yawned and replied, “But libraries are for everyone who loves stories, are they not?”
Bernard’s grumpy response caught the attention of wise old Owl, who had been watching from her perch atop the astronomy section. She fluttered down between them.

“Bernard,” Owl hooted softly, “do you remember when you first discovered this library?”
Bernard shuffled his paws, remembering that wonderful feeling. Owl helped Bernard and Whisper talk about sharing, friendship, and how different ideas could make the library even better.

Over the next few weeks, Bernard learned that Whisper had wonderful ideas about making the library more welcoming. She suggested creating cozy reading nooks and hosting storytimes at twilight when both nocturnal and diurnal animals could attend.

One rainy night, water began leaking through the library roof. Bernard and Whisper worked together: his strength and her quick paws made the perfect team to save the books.

As autumn arrived, Bernard saw how much brighter the library had become since Whisper arrived. Her ideas helped, and so did his new willingness to welcome different readers.
