Bernie Bear keeps every glowing crystal he finds in his red wagon. When the crystals scatter and grow into flowers, he discovers that sharing can make a forest brighter for everyone.
In the heart of the Whispering Woods, where flowers glowed like tiny lanterns and tree bark sparkled with morning dew, lived Bernie Bear, a friendly brown bear who loved collecting shimmering crystals that dropped from the enchanted trees.

Bernie had the most magnificent collection of crystals in all the forest, but he never shared them with anyone. He kept them all in his special red wagon, which he pulled everywhere he went. Whenever other animals asked to look at his treasures, Bernie would quickly shuffle away, muttering, “They are mine. All mine.”
One day, while gathering crystals in his favorite clearing, Bernie noticed his wagon feeling heavier than usual. As he pulled harder, the handle snapped! His precious crystals scattered across the forest floor, rolling in every direction.

“Oh no!” Bernie cried, trying to gather them all. But there were too many, and they kept rolling farther away. Tears welled up in his eyes as he watched his treasures disappear into the underbrush.
Just then, a wise old owl named Iris glided down from her perch. Her feathers seemed to shimmer with their own inner light.
“Sometimes,” she hooted softly, “what we try hardest to keep to ourselves becomes the heaviest burden to bear.”

Iris showed Bernie how the scattered crystals had begun to grow into beautiful crystal flowers where they had fallen.
“See how sharing your treasures with the forest has created something even more wonderful?” she asked.
Over the next few days, Bernie learned from Iris about the joy of sharing. She taught him how crystal flowers needed friends to grow properly, just like bears needed friends to truly be happy.

Bernie faced a test. A young rabbit family moved nearby and asked if they could have some crystal flowers for their new home. Bernie felt his old urge to say no, but remembered Iris’s lessons.

Taking a steady breath, Bernie not only shared his crystal flowers but helped the rabbits plant them. To his surprise, wherever they planted together, the flowers grew twice as bright. Bernie’s heart felt light.
He started inviting other animals to help tend the crystal garden, which grew more magnificent by the day. The more he shared, the more beautiful everything became.

As the season turned, a new bear named Luna moved to the forest. Instead of hiding his crystal garden, Bernie immediately invited her to join the garden-tending group.
