The Petal-Breathing Dragon's Song

In a towering crystal cave that stretched toward the clouds lived Pip, the smallest dragon anyone had ever seen.

Unlike other dragons who breathed fire, Pip breathed delicate flower petals that danced in the air. The cave’s magical crystals sang beautiful melodies when touched, but Pip felt too nervous to go near them.

One morning, the Great Dragon Council announced a special musical celebration at the Giant’s Castle. Every dragon was expected to perform, and Pip’s heart sank.

How could he perform when he felt too nervous to touch the singing crystals?

“Maybe I can make music with my petal-breath,” Pip whispered to himself.

He steadied himself and released a stream of rose petals, but they simply floated to the ground silently.

Determined to find a way, Pip visited the Ancient Valley where the wisest dragon, Elder Frost, lived.

“Dear Elder,” Pip said, “I want to make music, but I feel nervous about touching the crystals.”

Elder Frost smiled gently. “Sometimes, young one, our greatest worries hide our greatest gifts.”

Encouraged, Pip approached a small crystal. As he reached out, his paw trembled so much that he knocked the crystal over. The resulting clang made him jump back, sending a shower of petals into the air.

“I do not feel brave enough yet,” Pip sighed, watching his petals drift down.
